Wasini Island, reached from Shimoni on the south Kenya coast, is the setting for one of our most requested full-day experiences: wild dolphins in the morning, snorkeling in Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park, and a slow Swahili seafood lunch on the island before the return sail or motorboat run.
Typical flow of the day
- Pickup from Diani / Ukunda hotels (or meet at Shimoni)
- Boat departure — watch for dolphins on the way to the park
- Snorkeling on protected reefs (gear provided)
- Wasini Island: village paths, optional short walks, and lunch
- Afternoon return to the mainland and hotel drop-off
Tailor-Made charters give you flexibility on timing and group size. Shared departures are available on popular days when you prefer a lower per-person rate.
Who it suits
First-time visitors to the Kenyan coast, couples, families with confident swimmers, and anyone who wants marine life without a multi-day safari. Non-swimmers can still enjoy the boat, dolphin watching, and island lunch — snorkeling is optional.
Practical notes
Bring sunscreen, a hat, a rash vest or t-shirt for the water, and cash for optional tips or small crafts. Park fees and standard lunch are included on our listed packages unless we state otherwise. Vegetarian and other dietary requests are accommodated with notice.
Combine with inland safari
Many guests do Wasini one day and a Tsavo East short safari from Diani on another — coast and wildlife without long flights.
